Tests For COVID-19 Done At Synergy Wellness

Synergy has two rapid ways to test for COVID-19 and they only take 15 minutes.

The antigen test looks for active infection by detecting viral proteins in the nose.  We offer the only two FDA EUA approved antigen tests, Quidel and Beckton Dickinson.  Both require a nasal swab and takes only 15 minutes to give you an answer.

Synergy also offers the rapid antibody test that looks for your body’s immune response to SARS-COV2 infection.  We offer two FDA EUA-approved test that will give you an answer within 15 minutes of drawing your blood.  The test will tell you if you have antibodies (IgM and IgG) to the virus.  But please note that having either antibody does NOT suggest that you have an active infection or immunity for that matter.

Combining both the rapid antigen and antibody tests gives you a quick look for both active infection and immune response to COVID in 15 minutes

We also offer the send out the PCR test to look for the virus RNA in the nose.  This is the gold-standard for Coronavirus testing in the world right now.  Despite the lack of supplies and delays in testing across the U.S., we are proud of our average 48-hour turn-around time for the PCR test.  We often use this “gold-standard” to confirm the negative antigen results from high risk individuals, especially if the history and symptoms warrants it.

Lastly, Synergy also has a telemedicine platform to keep you safe and at home until you need a test, and for any of your other medical needs.

In this time of stress and uncertainty, rest assured that Synergy is working hard to keep you safe and healthy.  Let’s all play our parts by practicing social distancing and washing our hands to help flatten the curve!

Why You May Need A COVID-19 Antibody Test

Antibody tests look for an immune response to the COVID-19 virus.  It detects IgG and IgM antibodies which are produced by your body to protect you from viral infection.  It may not mean you have “immunity” to the virus, but it at least shows you have been exposed to the virus.

So, under what situations may warrant an antibody test?

  1. You were sick with COVID more than 1-2 weeks ago and want to find out if you have detectable antibodies
  2. You have a family member or close contact that had COVID and you want to know if you’ve developed an immune response without having symptoms
  3. You want to know if that “cold” or “tickle” in the throat from 2 months ago was possibly COVID or just allergies
  4. You are considering donation of convalescent plasma

Please remember that having antibodies doe NOT mean you have developed an immunity to COVID-19.  Also, up to 10% of people who’s been sick with COVID may NOT develop detectable antibodies either.

COVID-19 is a new and tricky virus, and scientists are learning something new about it every day.  Synergy will keep you up to date with the latest treatment and diagnostics.

Synergy Wellness Immune Support

Synergy Wellness, as our name implies, has your optimal health as our mission.  In this pandemic, we strive to prevent illness, but also to prepare your body and mind if ever challenged by COVID-19.  We’ve done our research to bring you the most promising supplements to boost your immune system.

Vitamin D

Low levels of vitamin D may increase rate of infection and risk of bad outcomes from COVID-19.  Vitamin D is often low in those with darker skin color and maybe contributory to a higher rate of disease severity in African Americans and Hispanics.  Also promotes cardiovascular, bone, and immune health.

Zinc

Supports anti-virus killing mechanism of cellular immunity as well as reproductive health.

Vitamin C

Supports natural immunity and collagen production.  Also a potent antioxidant that decreases inflammation.

Synergy also offers option of IV Vitamin C and thiamine infusion for those seeking a boost in immunity

High Potency Multi-Vitamin

A well-designed multivitamin helps to support key pivot points in immune function.  This includes reishi mushroom extract and adaptogen eleuthero to promote physiological balance and moderate occasional stress, including corticosterone activity, cytokine balance and nutrient metabolism

Melatonin

Promotes sleep and enhances immune cell activity.  Also a potent anti-oxidant.

NAC (n-acetyl-cysteine)

An amino acid derivative that’s necessary for production of glutathione, the master antioxidant defense system of the cell.  Acts also to thin mucus secretions which may decrease rate of respiratory tract infections as well as severity in patient with respiratory tract infections.

Glutathione

Master antioxidant of the cell.  Decrease inflammation and help detoxification of drugs and toxins.

Quercetin

Flavanoid present in apples and oranges. Strong antioxidant and supports immune function and metabolic health.  Maybe synergistic with vitamin C.  Also acts as a senolytic, which turns off “burned out” cells.

Pure Defense w/NAC

Formulation with most of the ingredients we recommend to boost your immune system: vitamins C and D, zinc, NAC, quercetin and extracts of elderberry and yeast.

CBD (from full-spectrum hemp oil)

May reduce anxiety and chronic pain, and promote sleep.  Also a potent anti-inflammatory that preliminary research in mice have been shown to decrease lung injury from cytokine storm.
